Math Question

I am helping to tutor some junior high school girls this coming Saturday in math.
I have been asked to “evaluate” the following:

[(30-4)^2-16]+2 [sorry I I forgot the ‘+2’ earlier.]

I get 662. I am told the answer is 240??

What I did:

[(26)^2-16]+2

[(676)-16]+2

[660]+2

662
So I am puzzled! Anyone help? I am assuming that I really do not understand how the word ‘evaluate’ is being used in this context.

I am now convinced their answer is wrong, and my answer is right.
